Favorite Exercise

Pause Deadlifts. Love to hate them. These typically have a huge carryover into my normal deadlifts. For me, my weakness is off the floor, so pausing right at the knee really helps work through that sticking point. I’ll be staying fairly light on these for this training cycle, since they tend to be a little harder on my back and I don’t want to hurt myself!

Favorite Recipe

Tim and I have been loving sweet potato hash browns with our weekend breakfasts! Sometimes we throw in regular potatoes too. I love them so much I made these hash browns and put them in my dinners for the week! They’re super simple to make. Simply cube a sweet potato, season with salt, pepper, and anything else you want! We usually put rosemary on them with garlic and onion powder. Melt a little butter in a pan and cook them for about 25 min! SO GOOD. As you can see on my breakfast plate, I eat a ton of these!

Charmed, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Degrassi: Next Class (don’t ask). I also had a Game of Thrones marathon last week in preparation for this week’s premier. Last year I watched seasons 1-4 but I wanted to wait on season 5 and watch it closer to the season 6 release so I could remember everything better. So excited for the premier, and to finally watch it in real time!!

Product Review: About Time Protein

I’ve tried so many different proteins over the years, but I’ve never found one that I absolutely love. It got even harder when I went gluten-free, dairy-free, low-FODMAP because it was so hard to find a protein powder that wouldn’t make me sick. My brother’s friend told me to try About Time. It’s lactose and gluten free, and is marketed as the “cleanest protein on the market”. I was skeptical-usually that means it tastes terrible. But I have to admit, the macros are pretty perfect in this powder. It doesn’t make me sick at all. While I have definitely had better-tasting proteins, I’ve never tasted a GF, LF one better than this. I mix one scoop with one tbsp. of PB2 and 8 oz of water and it tastes like I’m drinking a Reese’s cup! I’ve been recommending this protein to all my clients, which is something I never do unless I absolutely believe in the product. The only downside is the price. It is a little pricey for only 2lbs, but I think it’s worth it! You can purchase it here!

Favorite Activity

I’m learning how to golf! Two weeks ago, I went to the driving range with Tim for the first time ever…and I killed it! We’re offering golf screenings and golf-specific programming at work, so I spent a week learning the mechanics and anatomy of the golf swing so I can better help our clients. All I had to do was apply what I learned to an actual swing, so that’s what I did! I had a great time! Towards the end I was ever hitting every single ball!! (took me awhile to make contact at first, LOL) I can’t wait to do this more with Tim, and get on a actual course soon! Here are some snapshots from my swing video:

There’s a couple things I need to work on, mainly keeping my foot down in the beginning of the swing. But for someone who has never swung a club before, I think I did pretty well!

I also went to my first Red Sox game of the season this past Tuesday. Unfortunately, they lost, but it went into extra innings and I got to spend some time with my dad, brother, and Tim.

Tomorrow Tim and I are going to a rock climbing gym…so be on the lookout for that in my next Faves post!

P.S. My client Jill sent in her third round of pictures last week, which were taken at the end of month 2 of working with me. She has made SO MUCH PROGRESS….I wish I could show you but we’re gonna hold off posting her progress pictures until the end of month 3. There’s already a HUGE change to her physique, but I know it’s going to be even better in a few more weeks! I am so proud of her!
