This past month of training, I programmed in conventional deadlifts on my squat day. When I first was learning how to deadlift, I started out conventional but switched to sumo because conventional was too hard on my back. It’s been YEARS since I used conventional deadlifts in training. I decided to try keeping the weight super light and doing higher reps as accessory work. So far, I’m loving it! I get a really great burn in my glutes and hammies. I’m going to keep conventional deads in my programs and I’m excited to see how they translate to my sumo!
Favorite Recipe
I didn’t do much cooking over the past 2 weeks, so I have no new recipes to share with you this week. However, I did get an Inspiralizer and the Inspiralized cookbook for Christmas so expect a lot of fun, new recipes in the coming weeks! I can’t WAIT to play with it. I’ve been using a handheld spiralizer for the past year, and finally decided I needed to ask Santa for a full size, table-top one! Hide yo fruits, hide yo veggies, I’m bout to be spiralizing errythaannnggg.

I just started reading Talking As Fast As I Can, a memoir by Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham. I love her, so I was dying to read her new book! One of my goals for 2017 is to read more books, so if you have any suggestions for me, please share!

Still working my way through The Crown and The OA….I didn’t have as much down time during my vacation as I thought I would to watch my shows! Which brings us to…
Favorite Activities
Christmas! New Year’s! 10 days of vacation! SO many activities!!!
The week of Christmas, I worked three double shifts in a row while my boss was out…that equals 42 hours of work in 3 DAYS. I was exhausted and not really feeling the Christmas spirit, to say the least. I’m glad that when it was finally over, I was able to relax and enjoy the festivities!
My parents host Christmas Eve and The Feast of the Seven Fishes every year. It’s a big night full of family, friends, and a lot of great food! Christmas Day we spend at my aunt and uncle’s house. They’re putting their house on the market this year, so it was our last Christmas there! Sad!
I had the week between Christmas and New Year’s off from work, which I am so glad I was able to do. I spent that week doing stuff with my family-bowling for my brother’s birthday on the 26th, visiting the “Da Vinci” Exhibit at the Boston Museum of Science, visiting the “Shoes: Pleasure and Pain” Exhibit at the Peabody-Essex Museum, finally going to Eataly at the Prudential Center, catching up with friends who I don’t get to see often, and spending time with my family. I was busy, busy, busy!!
On Friday of that week, Tim and I left for Killington, VT, with a few of his friends. It was my first time in Killington! It was so pretty (and so snowy!) up there. I don’t ski, so I posted up in the ski lodge on Friday afternoon while Tim and his friend went skiing. We stayed at the cutest little inn about 10 miles from the mountain. On Saturday, Tim took a break from downhill skiing to go cross-country skiing with me! He took a few pretty hard falls, but all in all we had a great time! That night we rang in the new year with his friends at a bar near the mountain. We headed home on Sunday to relax and get ready to go back to work!
Favorite Bachelor Moment
It’s back!!!! The Bachelor premiered this past Monday, and, although I hate Nick and most of the women this year, I’m obviously still going to watch. There were a lot of cringey moments in the premiere, but my favorite part was definitely shark/dolphin girl. She was just hilarious! I can’t wait to see how this trainwreck of a season plays out. I’ll be filling out my fantasy bracket this weekend!
