I’m back! It’s been about a month since my last update…I am so so sorry about being MIA for a few weeks! Work has been crazy and I have had literally no time for anything else. It’s finally starting to calm down now, so I’m hoping to get back to regular writing and posts!
(I had to feature the GOAT as my header picture. I will NEVER get sick of looking at that!)
Let’s get right to it!

I started a new program this week, and I really wanted to add in half-kneeling squats. I knew they were a great glute exercise and I was itching to try them out. I LOVED them! Since this was the first week I had them in my program, I’m still playing around with what weights work best for me, but I got a great glute burn! I may go a little heavier next week, I think I can do it! This will be a great way for me to add a new glute-specific exercise into my routine. Definitely try it out if you’re looking for a new challenge!
TRX Tuesday Update
If you follow my Facebook page (which I assume anyone reading this does, or else how would you be here?!), you know that for the past year I’ve done TRX Tuesday on my page. I basically picked one TRX exercise a week and broke it down. I got a lot of great feedback from it, and heard from many people who were using my tutorials as a guide for using the TRX in their gyms. I was running out of exercises to do, so for the new year, I decided to try something a little different. TRX Tuesdays now consist of mini workouts or circuits comprising of 4-8 TRX exercises. These are great to add to the end of your workout as a finisher or put a few together to create a TRX-only gym day! All the exercises in these workouts are ones that I’ve taught you in the past year. So far, I’ve done an upper body focus, lower body focus, core focus, and total body focus. So make sure to visit my page every Tuesday (typically goes up in the afternoon/evening), for some great new ideas!
Favorite New Recipe
In the past month, I’ve made 2 recipes with my spiralizer and they were both a hit. The first one was sweet potato noodles with chicken sausage and corn. The second was pesto zucchini noodles with pesto chicken. I followed both recipes (with a few of my own tweaks) out of the Inspiralized cookbook. I can’t find the recipes online, unfortunately. But check out http://www.inspiralized.com for tons of recipes for spiralized veggies!!
You guys. I discovered the most amazing thing this past month. Did you know that you can sign up for an e-library card at many public libraries, and you can “check out” e-books onto your kindle, ipad, iphone, or even desktop/laptop computer…..FOR FREE?!?! Ok, so maybe I was late to the party on this one, but I am so happy I discovered this! One of my main issues with my kindle is that ebooks are soooooo expensive….like why? There are so many books I’ve been dying to read, but I didn’t want to buy them! PROBLEM SOLVED. I’ve already read 3 books through the Boston Public E-Library: It’s Not Okay by Andi Dorfman, BossyPants by Tina Fey, and Yes Please! by Amy Poehler. Are you sensing a theme here? These are what I would call “guilty pleasure” books. I love reading celeb memoirs, I think they’re fascinating! I’m thoroughly enjoying being able to read these on my commutes and whenever I do cardio! I have about 10 books on my wishlist currently lol! My resolution to read more books in 2017 is off to a great start!
I’m that crazy person that starts a bunch of shows at once on Netflix and never finishes them. Right now I’m working my way through Parenthood, The OA, and Westworld (on HBOGo). And Scandal is BACK! This is the first season that I’m watching live each week, and I have to say the suspense between episodes is killing me! I watched the first 5 seasons on Netflix last year and it was so nice to just go straight to the next episode! #firstworldproblems. And of course, The Bachelor. This season is slowly becoming my least favorite one. It is soooo boring, except for Corrine. But she’s so ridiculous that I can’t even watch her! Let’s just say, I’ll be glad when this trainwreck is over and I never have to look at Nick Viall again.
I know it’s been awhile since my last update, but I haven’t really been doing much! Partly because I was sick for the entire month of January. I finally ended up going to the doctor two weeks ago because I thought that the cold I had been fighting all month had finally turned into the full-blown flu. Nope-it was a sinus infection! Luckily that meant I could take antibiotics and I was better within a few days! Note to self: never let a cold get out of hand again!
So other than spending an entire weekend in bed, I have pretty much been laying low all month. My cousin Angela came to visit and we went out in Davis Square, which was fun!
And of course, it was football playoffs month! AND THE PATRIOTS WON THE SUPERBOWL! Honestly, if I had to pick the most exciting thing that’s happened to me since my last update, that would be it! So so happy!
I also got to hang out with some great friends from Ithaca who were visiting Boston last weekend. I’m always happy to see everyone!!!
Now that it’s February, I have lots of fun things coming up! I’m seeing Iliza Schlesinger tonight (if you haven’t heard of her, LOOK HER UP). Monday is Tim’s birthday, so we’re celebrating this weekend as well. And then my best friend’s birthday is at the end of the month and then it’s my birthday! And then Tim and I are going to Ireland! Whaaaaat?! I told you, lots of fun stuff coming up!

My Personal Progress Pictures
It’s that time again! I have another set of progress photos to share with my lovely blog readers.
From left to right in all photos: October, December, February
The good news is, I’ve been able to maintain both my weight and my physique. The bad news is, I was expecting a bit more change since December lol! For the next few months I’m going to be tightening up my diet and really focusing on fat loss to prepare for the summer. My weight has stayed between 114-118 which I’m happy about. It’s been a year since I set my goal of training at my competition weight and maintaining it so that I would never have to do a weight cut again. I’m finally feeling like I’m actually getting stronger now. I’m going to start looking for a meet for either early summer or fall!
